Centennial Is a Strong District — Let’s Help Families See It
Centennial School District is home to dedicated educators, hardworking students, and a diverse, growing community. But like many districts across Oregon, we’ve seen a decline in enrollment.
That decline impacts funding, student programs, and the sense of momentum that keeps families invested. While some factors are beyond our control, we have real opportunities to turn the tide.
Families want strong academics, safe schools, and a place where their kids feel proud and supported. We already have the foundation — we just need to build on it and share our story more effectively.
A Realistic, Community-Focused Plan to Strengthen Centennial
1. Grow Enrollment by Showcasing Our Strengths
Host open houses, school tours, and community nights to bring the public in.
Use social media and local media to share student success, creative teaching, and community involvement.
Partner with local businesses, realtors, and civic groups to promote our schools to new and current families.
2. Attract Families with Innovative, Specialized Programs
Explore magnet-style options in areas like STEM, dual language, the arts, or career tech to give families more reasons to choose Centennial.
Emphasize hands-on learning, real-world experiences, and programs that excite students.
3. Invest in After-School Programs & Youth Activities
Expand after-school clubs and academic support programs to keep kids engaged and learning beyond the bell.
Grow youth sports and arts opportunities — with the help of volunteers and community partners — to give students structured, enriching options during out-of-school hours.
4. Elevate Athletics & School Spirit
Strengthen support for school sports teams — from youth leagues to high school — to foster pride and positive perception.
Support facilities, coaching, and team-building that help students feel proud to wear Centennial colors.
5. Focus on Academic Growth, Not Just Test Scores
Strengthen early literacy and math instruction.
Expand access to advanced coursework, CTE programs, and college credit classes.
Prioritize student growth — helping every learner move forward, regardless of where they start.
6. Rebuild Community Connection
Involve alumni, parents, and local organizations in mentoring and volunteering.
Host community events that make schools a hub of local pride.
Encourage family engagement from kindergarten to graduation.
7. Advocate for Better State Funding
Centennial can't succeed on local effort alone. Oregon schools need stronger, more stable state investment. I will advocate for better funding from the state so we can meet student needs without cutting vital programs.
Let’s Build Momentum — and Bring Back Pride
This campaign isn’t about pointing fingers — it’s about taking action. Centennial has the foundation for success, but we need to strengthen what works, fix what doesn’t, and give families clear reasons to choose our schools.
By focusing on student engagement, strong academics, after-school opportunities, and community connection, we can grow enrollment, stabilize funding, and build a district we’re all proud to call ours.
